Zoo Audiovisual Systems

The Cincinnati Zoo provides some good examples of our capabilities in audiovisual systems for display and exhibit work. Two installations featured here are the CREW Centre and the Wings of the World Bird House.

CREW Centre

CREW Centre

The Cincinnati Zoo Centre for the Reproduction of Endangered Wildlife (CREW) is an innovative project which is preserving endangered wildlife for future generations. The process which has been perfected here involves the cryogenic freezing of embryos and then later giving birth to the embryos by means of surrogate parenthood.

The installation by ICB was the visitor centre, the focal point of which comprises a large globe of the earth with touch sensitive trigger points. A visitor touching one of the trigger points is treated to an audiovisual exprience of the endangered wildlife activities being performed in that part of the world.

Wings of the World Bird House

Wings of the World Bird House

The Wings of the World birdhouse is an innovative visitor experience where they may walk through the cages with the birds and be treated to a mixture of audiovisual experiences complimentary top the wildlife they are sharing the space with.

ICB installed ten theme areas, providing audio, video, and lighting displays. The area shown comprises an audio and video presentation which is enhanced by moving fibre optic graphics, progressive spotlighting, and ultimately the automatic opening of a door to the next exhibit area.
